Meet The Staff

Ranch Director
As a retired law enforcement officer with 26 years of service, Bill O'Brien is very active in kid-related causes, including his service on the board of the Coupeville Boys and Girls Club. In 2003 the Forgotten Children's Fund purchased the M-Bar-C Ranch and named Bill the ranch director. Bill has been involved with the FCF for over 20 years in King and Island Counties.

Tina Jarvis has been involved with the M-Bar-C since March 2005 when she agreed to act as volunteer coordinator. During her tenure at the ranch she has assumed a variety of hats covering all job duties at one time or another. With the addition of staff to the ranch she is now able to assume the financial duties that are so very important in the operation. With her corporate background, Tina brings strong organizational skills to the ranch, and as a retired accountant she keeps the finances on track. Her love of kids and animals motivates her every day.

Ranch Trainer/Instructor
The ranch holds special memories for Kim Olmstead. Her parents Gale & Shirley Alger lived on site and managed the ranch from 1980 to 1985. A 5th generation horse trainer/breeder, Kim carries on that family tradition with husband Ron and daughter Tailynn. Kim oversees the training and education of horse volunteers (wranglers), along with training and maintenance needs of the ranch's critter.

Volunteer and Program Coordinator 

In this capacity, Dana Jones acts as a resource and recruiter for our volunteer team and works to develop community outreach programs. With over twenty years of experience in high tech systems sales management, and as the owner of a small business,  Dana brings a unique business perspective to the ranch operations.

Prior to joining the M-Bar-C, Dana was a volunteer trainer for the Washington State Obedience Training Club where she worked with dog owner's and their companions to help them meet their training objectives. As a breeder of American Quarter Horses, Dana find the connection between horses and kids "amazing" and is thrilled to be an instrumental part of our Ranch Experience program.

Volunteer and Cook

Joe Pine, long time volunteer and cook for the Forgotten Children's Christmas Program has become a welcome member of the M Bar C Ranch. Joe, along with his volunteer's in the kitchen, cook the cowboy grub that keeps kids, volunteers and staff happy and content.

Administrative Assistant 

Shari Coomes, has over 20 years experience in office admin and 4 years in operating and managing a small business.    Shari loves to interact with kids and has taught a group of young children through a homeschool co-op. She loves animals and kids and says she has the best of both worlds to be here at the ranch, interacting with both."This place is like Heaven! " she says.

Peter Shea - Maintenance

Peter Shea is our ranch maintenance person and all around handy man. As a life long resident of Whidbey Island, Peter attended South Whidbey High School and is actively involved with his church where he participates as an alter server. Peter enjoys hunting, fishing and camping. His comments on the M-Bar-C Ranch? "The people here are really nice, and I love the animals, especially Willard the Donkey".
